A poignant piece. I have been to the Netherlands twice, but both times were with German relatives and so have not made it to Amsterdam to see the Annex. Maybe this spring depending on how things go with COVID as our German host daughter is getting married and I will reconnect with friends for another two weeks. Hope springs eternal for reuniting and to the end that your piece notes.
I hope you do one day get to go there. I'd recommend getting tickets in advance (if that's still a thing) and going early in the day.
Hopefully, you'll also be able to reconnect with friends. Until COVID, I had taken an overseas trip once a year since 1993. I have two good friends in The Netherlands and two in Greece, who I hope to see again. I just don't trust air travel at the moment.
I still dream of a day when I don't have to worry anymore and can just hope on a plane and see my friends.
